
Members of the Civil Service Commission administer the Civil Service Law, as adopted by the voters of the City, and Article II – Civil Service for Firefighters and Police Officers. The Commission is responsible for adopting rules, setting job qualifications, overseeing competitive hiring processes, approving temporary appointments, and establishing policies for promotions and leaves. All rules and compensation plans require approval by the City Council.
