Economic Development Corporation

Overview

Palestine Economic Development Corporation is a Type B Texas economic development corporation established under the Development Corporation Act of 1979.  Currently, our division is funded by ¼ cent of sales tax revenue. Our mission is to promote and facilitate responsible commercial and industrial business retention and growth that expands, diversifies, and strengthens the local tax base while enhancing local amenities and destination attractions throughout the City of Palestine. Our department, within the City of Palestine, oversees economic development, business recruitment, retention, and expansion. The PEDC Board, established by state law and appointed by the Mayor and City Council, provides governance and policy direction for the economic development of Palestine, Texas.

Corporation Membership

  • The corporation consists of seven directors, appointed by the City Council.
  • Directors serve two-year terms and may continue to serve until a successor is appointed. 

Meeting Schedule

  • When: 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.
  • Where: Palestine Economic Development Corporation Conference Room
  • Public Access: Meetings are open to the public and follow all requirements of the Texas Open Meetings Act.
