Planning & Zoning Commission

Overview

The Planning and Zoning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the growth and development of the City of Palestine. Members actively educate themselves on urban planning, zoning, and land development through ongoing training. The commission advises the City Council on the city’s comprehensive plan, land use policies, and development standards. It reviews and makes recommendations on subdivision plats and zoning districts within the city and its extra-territorial jurisdiction. Additionally, the commission assists with public hearings and carries out other duties assigned by the City Council to ensure responsible and sustainable development that meets community needs.
